This December, I'm taking on the Festive 500 Challenge – riding 500km in one go to raise money for two causes very close to my heart: Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome and Endometriosis UK.
Why I’m Riding
For years, I lived with the pain and confusion of endometriosis. Like so many others, I struggled through my teenage years and into adulthood before finally receiving a diagnosis and undergoing surgery just a couple of years ago. It was a long, exhausting journey – physically and emotionally – and it's one that too many people face in silence. Even though, for now, I am mostly pain-free, there is no cure for this disease and the likelihood of it coming back is high.
Endometriosis UK provides vital support, information, and advocacy for those affected by this often-misunderstood condition. Their work helps ensure others don’t go through what I did without help, guidance, or a voice.
I'm also riding to support the Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome – an incredible community space that’s been a game changer for me personally and professionally, and it’s a place that encourages all ages and abilities to experience the joy, freedom, and empowerment that cycling brings.
Two Wheels, Two Causes
This ride is about endurance and resilience – two things I’ve come to know well through both cycling and my personal health journey – but the challenge of riding 500kms in one go, in circles, through the night, in winter, is far beyond anything I’ve done before. I hate not sleeping and I hate being cold and wet, so even though I love cycling, this ride will be a huge challenge for me. I’d be hugely grateful for any support you can offer – whether it’s a donation, sharing this page, or cheering me on over the 500km challenge!
Thank you so much for your support!
