On 28th December, I’ll be riding 500km in one go around Herne Hill Velodrome – that’s 1,112 laps. This one isn’t for the views, it’s for the cause.
WHY?
The last thing I say to my friends when we part ways is always: “Text me when you get home.” It’s something we’ve all said. A simple message of care, but also a reflection of the world we live in. We say it because we know that walking home at night doesn’t always feel safe.
But for 1.7 million women in the UK, home isn’t the safe place they’re heading towards. It’s where the fear begins.
Every year, millions of women experience domestic abuse, violence, control, manipulation, and fear behind closed doors. Women’s Aid is there to help them escape, rebuild, and find safety. But they can’t do it alone.
Whether locally or in remote places, whether alone or with friends, I’ve witnessed many moments that have stayed with me – reminders of the fear, the inequality, and the danger many women face day on a daily basis. That’s why I’m riding, to help create a world where every woman can feel safe at home and beyond.
Really grateful for any support, thanks so much for reading this!
