Step 1: Ride 500km in one go in the depth of winter.
Step 2: ?
This December I'm raising money for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. It's a place I have a personal connection with: my sister, Daisy, was born with brain tumours and was not expected to live much more than a few months. Thanks to the doctors, nurses and carers at the hospital, my sister is 28 this year. Throughout the 18 years she was in the care of GOSH, she had dozens of operations and spent months on end in the Neurological ward.
With the NHS in crisis, it's imperative that children's hospitals such as GOSH, which continue to save the lives of disabled people like my sister, stay open and receive the funding needed to stay on the bleeding edge of medical care and research. The care they provide, and the lengths they go to for often overlooked young people is second-to-none.
Daisy has a lot of learning difficulties, and lives in supported accommodation, but over the years has enjoyed trips to the track for the tricycle sessions on the Junior track. The upkeep of the track, and all of the rental equipment it uses, is so important to young people with disabilities such as my sister.
Please consider a donation and a kind message - with any luck it'll make the miles easier!
