Emma Singleton: Festive 500

Hi I'm Emma and between the 28th–29th December 2025 I'll be riding as part of the Festive 500 at Herne Hill Velodrome to go round and round for 500km over 28hrs (althought I hope it wont take me that long). 

I'm doing this to raise money for British Heart Foundation a charity that is very close to my family since my Grandad past away at the start of the year after multiple heart issues including a very technical bypass, and also for everything we went through when my Dad suffered a mini heart attack a few years ago. The support from this charity amoungst many other friends and family made a massive difference to us all. 

I'm a bit late to joining the 10 riders taking part, it was a friend who asked if I would do it and I struggle to say no to a challenge like this, I'd never considered sigining up myself but being asked really drives and pushes my want and my why to achieve this both for my Grandad, my family, and everyone at HHVD. 

Keeping warm is going to be amongst the bigest issues I'll have with this challenge I think. 

All donations will be split 50/50 between Herne Hill Velodrome and The British Heart Foundation.

The Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome (FHHV) is an inclusive club and welcomes people of all ages and ability. We are based at the historic, outdoor velodrome in Herne Hill. Our primary purpose is to support the Herne Hill Velodrome through raising and providing funds , organising social events and volunteering. We have over 400 members.

As you would expect the focus is track cycling but there is also is also plenty of participation on and off road. In the coming months we plan to introduce group rides.

We have a thriving social scene with plenty of opportunities to meet and hang out at Jan’s Café in the Herne Hill Velodrome Pavilion after sessions and at other events throughout the year. Everyone is welcome.
