Hey folks
I have been involved in multiple communities for the past couple of years, and want to channel a lot of energy and goodwill I've received from both refugees and the cycling world towards direct action that can help impact lives - and will be riding 500km nonstop through a cold December night to hopefully give back.
Refugee Community Kitchen is an NGO that provides hot meals and drinks to London and Calais based refugees and homeless. I have personally gone out in the field, prepared and delivered meals with them and can attest to the warm, humanising and essential impact it has on people. I know this charity operates on a shoestring, relying on goodwill and donations that never go to waste, so any donations will directly help resourcing operations on the ground.
Herne Hill Velodrome has also provided this opportunity and has generously provided their platform, space and expertise to undertake this effort. In the recent year I have been involved with them I have witnessed how it has harnessed cycling to foster one of the most diverse and welcoming communities I have encountered in London, and hope money raised can help provide these opportunities to others
Thanks for any coffee/beer money you might be able to give!
James
